Romans - Let's Talk About the Eons
Part IV: God’s Conciliation, Confirmed
The phrase “life eonian”
was used in Romans 2:7, and 5:21. I briefly discussed what “life eonian” was in
the last section, but here I would like to give you a more detailed look at the
eons in their entirety, that the full scope of “reigning in life” with Christ
may be made known to us. Why does this timeline matter? Observe Paul in Hebrews
11:3:
By faith we are apprehending the eons to adjust to a declaration of God,
so that what is being observed has not come out of what is appearing.
Clearly, apprehending the eons adjusts our understanding to resemble a declaration of God, as opposed to our own beliefs. With that said, there are other believers that have concisely lined up this symmetrical timeline for us.
Let’s take a look at the following chart:
This is a large,
expansive chart that, on the surface, looks complicated, but I hope to break it
down for you in an easily-digestible fashion. First, this calendar is best
comprehended when broken down in pieces, from left to right. As
you look along the left column, you will see that each section of this calendar
is broken into a different topic, shown on the grand scale from the beginning
of the “eonian story of creation” to the end. As such, I am going to begin in
the top left section of the chart. In this section, I will cover "The Three Heavens and Earths," and "The Creations." Observe:
There are “three heavens” and “three earths” laid out for us in Scripture. The first earth is constructed in Genesis 1:1. Observe:
In a beginning, Elohim created the heavens and the earth.
This, as I said when
discussing Romans 5:12, is the first eon. It is the first creation
of “heaven” and “earth.” Two spheres – one, God’s throne, and the other, His
footstool (Is. 66:1.) This is not the only mention of this first eon.
Observe, also, Is. 45:18:
For thus says Yahweh, Creator of the heavens; He is the One, Elohim, the
Former of the earth and its Maker, He Himself established it; He did not create
it a chaos; He formed it to be indwelt…
And, sure enough, if you look at the
beginning of Genesis 1:2, you will find that the earth became a chaos
and vacant – it was one thing, and became another thing. God
created the perfect heaven and earth first and foremost. This is
evident, per the chart, by Deuteronomy 32:4:
Grant greatness to our Elohim! The Rock – flawless are His deeds, For
all His ways are right judgment.
When He effects, enacts, forms, makes, creates anything, it is perfect. He is flawless in nature, and thus creates a perfect first heaven and earth.
This is the beginning of the eonian times. It’s the
first event in the universe. And what is the second major event in the
universe? Let’s finish Genesis 1:2:
As for the earth, it came to be a chaos and vacant, and darkness
was over the surface of the abyss. And the spirit of Elohim was vibrating over
the surface of the waters.
Hmm. That got complicated, really quickly. So, the earth falls apart. We know that the physical, tangible reality is a reflection of the spiritual (2 Kings 6:15-18, John 14:9,) so we know, though God zones in on the earth in this verse (as the beginning of Israel’s law, they are receiving terrestrial glory,) the heavens also suffered a like destruction. They also came to be a chaos and vacant.
No, I’m not “just theorizing,” either.
Here’s 2 Pet. 3:5-6, concerning how “darkness came to be” over the
surface of an “abyss:”
For [scoffers] want to be ignorant of this, that there were heavens
of old, and an earth cohering out of water and through water, by
the word of God; through which the ‘then world,’ being
deluged by water, perished.
A “deluge” is a “DOWN-SURGE.” It is a down surge of water that destroyed this first heaven and earth.
Few things, here: first, the word “world,” as we discussed previously, is kosmos, a word that is, literally, a “system” or “order.” I will be returning to this at a later time in this article, but the kosmos, for now, must be understood as both the “heaven” and “earth” of that first eon, combined into one. It covers the entire order and method by which God operated at that time. When the first heaven and earth are destroyed, so also, the world, called a “then world,” is said to have “perished,” or, “ceased to be.”
Second: hopefully, this clarifies Genesis 1:2 a little better for us. The middle part of the verse says, “darkness was over the surface of the abyss.” How much better is this than the faulty KJV, which has fooled billions of people, saying “darkness was upon the face of the deep.” What the hell is the deep?? Such a phrase springboards from “the earth ‘was’ without form and void,” which directly contradicts Is. 45:18, which said that God did not create the earth a chaos! Here, we can see, through 2 Peter, that it became chaotic, not that it was made that way.
Moreover, Genesis 1:2 finishes with, “And the spirit of Elohim was vibrating over the surface of the waters.” Well, now we know why that’s said! The first earth cohered out of, operated through, and was deluged by water, so it makes sense that God, having flooded said earth, is now vibrating over the surface of an abyss.
And, finally, let it be known that this event is commonly referred to in the New Testament as “the disruption of the world.” Here are the following verses that mention this event: Matt. 13:35, 25:34, Luke 11:50, John 17:24, Eph. 1:4, Heb. 4:3, 9:26, 1 Pet. 1:19-20, Unv. 13:8, 17:8. Hopefully these verses make more sense, with the understanding of what the “disruption of the world” is.
From here, we have a solid understanding and contextualization of the second heaven and earth. The second earth is shown to be formed from the wreckage of the first earth, and God calls it “good” in Gen. 1:4, 1:9, 1:12, 1:18, 1:21, 1:24, and 1:31. During this period of reconstruction, God creates the living soul, per Gen. 1:20-21, 1:26-27, and 2:7. We can rightly infer that the second heaven correlates, with God having reconstructed something out of the first, destroyed celestial realm.
The chart clarifies that, toward the end
of the time period of this “second earth,” a new humanity is
established, to contrast the fleshy, old humanity (Rom. 6:4, 6.) More on this
as we go through Romans 6. For now, I’d like to clarify that we, in
being called out in Christ beforehand, are the firstfruit of this new
humanity. Observe 2 Corinthians 5:17:
If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: the primitive
passed by. Lo! There has come new.
Simple enough! Our allotment in Christ makes us a new creation. Instead of “Stephen Janowski,” I am now, “Christ Stephen,” similar to, “Christ Jesus.” Adolph Ernst Knoch is, to God, “Christ Adolph.” George Rogers is “Christ George.” Catherine Holmes is “Christ Catherine.” Rob Wile is “Christ Rob.” Seth Fahlenkamp is “Christ Poophead.” You are now a “Christ,” or, “Anointed.”
This
earth and this heaven that exist now are not the end. Jesus says, point
blank:
Heaven and earth shall be passing by, yet My words may by no
means be passing by.
This heaven and earth will
reach a conclusion, and another calamity will occur, which will
destroy it. This is not the only time the heavens and earth are said to be
“passing by,” per Mark 13:31, Luke 16:17, and 21:33. Here, also, is 2 Pet. 3:10,
12, which elaborates on the process by which the heaven and earth shall
pass:
Now the day of the Lord will be arriving as a thief, in which the
heavens will be passing by with a booming noise, yet the elements shall
be dissolved by combustion, and the earth and the works in it shall be found.
…the heavens, being on fire, will be dissolved, and the elements
decompose by combustion!
Here, the heavens are
discussed, and will explode. Poof! Gone. Bye bye, second heavens. That’s
all she wrote. Here again, in Psalm 102:25-26:
Beforetime, You founded
the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. They shall perish, yet
You shall stand. All of them shall decay like a cloak; Like clothing, You shall
change them, and they shall pass by.
And again, in Is.
51:6:
Lift up your eyes to the
heavens, And look to the earth beneath, For the heavens, like smoke, they shall
be dissolved away, And the earth, like a cloak, it shall wear out, And its
dwellers, they shall die like a gnat…
Verse after verse proclaiming that the heavens and earth
as we currently know them will be destroyed. The end. What takes its
place? A new heaven and a new earth. I believe this, because
there are verses that directly state this. Here we have 2 Pet. 3:13:
Yet we, according to His promises, are hoping for new heavens and a new
earth, in which righteousness is dwelling.
There will be a third heaven and third earth. What of it? After the previous is destroyed by fire, one arrives that has righteousness dwelling on it. The third heaven, particularly, is discussed by Paul in 2 Cor. 12:1-6. He says that the third heaven can be described as an “ineffable declaration,” which a man is not allowed to speak. Of course, the question is, “What is in this third heaven?”
Beats the hell outta me. But it’s there! You may have more luck with the third earth, which is described in more detail by John in Unv. 21-22.
Anyway, we’ve
briefly established here that there are three heavens and earths
unveiled in Scripture, and that they appear consecutively. However, this does
not give us much information in terms of what we’ve been studying so far in
Romans 5. What does this have to do with the eons? More on this in the next
section.
